Interesting thought.........

But this has been a very interesting read, each and every post.

Many sad stories here, but never the less an interesting read. Great idea for a thread.

I cycled from John o groats to Lands end years ago, and made some money for Milton Keynes hospital's baby unit, had a really great time we did it in ten day's, with no back up.

On a lighter note i once got caught speeding, nothing to unusual about that you might say, only thing is i was gritting the roads about 4am in the morning in a council lorry

OK since you dredged it up I'll add mine :)

Life changed, for me, five years ago. My hubby was diagnosed as being terminally ill. Bad enough you would think. Then three months into a nine month terminal phase I was diagnosed with a tumour in my liver. Now they tend not to be too good and at one point we both thought we were staring the grim reaper in the face. Turned out that mine (though the size of a tennis ball) was benign. I had to have an urgent op to remove it though, because if it ruptured I'd be dead in minutes. So off I went to London to have it removed.

I died on the operating table and had to be resuscitated to complete the op. Went back home to recover/look after hubby who died a few months later. Then my father died three months after him.

What a C*** year that was!

Made me look at life in a totally different way. I do wish I could say that it changed me for the better but I can't honestly say that it did. I find it difficult to settle at times, tend to retreat into myself on occasion which is not good. It also makes it very hard to have a normal relationship again because there is always a little part of me that is scared at being hurt like that again. But I'm trying.

I'm very lucky to have my new family, I'm certainly well looked after. I just wish I didn't need to be looked after sometimes.

Then I pull myself up by my bootstraps and go "Oh sod it, life is what you make it" I'm generally quite a happy person and photography has helped a lot in that it allows me to be creative. I didn't express my creative side before that happened so the fact that I now do it, is one good thing that came out of it.

cripes this is an ollllldddd thread.

An oldie but a goodie

C'mon peeps, let's keep it going..............

Brave admission Gary ;)

I read the entire thread now and have caught up and just thought i would drop one in.

When i was really young my next door neighbor was my best friend she was a girl called roxanne, i never stayed over at her house but one night when i was about 6 i did. Bare in mind the house i lived in was attached to hers so every thing was in exact opposite. Her mum and dad like to (break dance) and went to new york every year and bought her back some brand new limited edition trainers. This one night where i stayed over in my sleep i walked what would have been my route to the toilet, this lead me to, where of all places or closet, where all of the never worn limited edition trainers were neatly lying. I was soon woken up by her mum shouting my name as i was ****ing allllll over them.......i never stayed over again lol

When I was three I buried my tortoise alive, to this day I wonder why I did it

At the age of seven, I nearly lost both my parents to Malaria.

When I was a kid (1985) I had full blown Meningitis.
I was one of the lucky few to come out of it 100% ok. No after effects at all.

Don't remember much about it really, but one of the few things I do remember is THIS.

I recall laying in my bed, watching TV, and football came on. I was peed big time, because I really HATE football, and I couldn't get out of bed to turn over!
I saw live on TV the whole thing.
A VERY sad day indeed :'(

But back to the illness, Dr's told mum and dad I had a one in a million chance of getting through it.

How lucky was I then??!!!

I gained my first black belt in less than 3 years. Although black belts mean jack these days.

When i was little not sure how old, I flushed my PJ bottoms down the toilet. This then blocked the drains for the whole house and they had to dig up the pavement to clear it. :D
