OK I have next week off work, so I'm planning to devote the week ( or at least most of it ) to some photography as I've not done as much as I would like recently.

So I'm looking for things to do each day. Next sunday is the BTCC at Donnington so that's a definite. I'm also looking at going to the WWF centre in London on one of the days. Hopefully the 300mm+1.4tc will be long enough :shrug:

But I'm looking for suggestions on other things/places worth a visit within a reasonable driving distance of Reading.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Beale Park is not to bad, also what about the Chilterns to get some Red Kites.

For some nice scenery you could try Wellington Country Park and Virginia Water :shrug:

I had thought of taking a trip over to stockenchurch to one of the bluebell woods and see if I could get some red-kite shots. Just worried I don't have the reach for the kites, but I think they fly quite low.

Virginia water... Didn't think of that :bang:

All good stuff guys, keep 'em coming.

I'm not stuck on any one type of thing to shoot, as I have plenty of days to try out different stuff. I'd thought about a day shooting interesting buildings, but no idea where there might be anything worth trying. Maybe oxford.

There are certainly interesting buildings in Oxford. Windsor/Eton too.

Whatever you do don't try taking photo's at The Oracle! I nearly got arrested for taking photo's there! :cuckoo:

How about the wolf sanctuary?, i think it's in Shinfield :)

I thought of Windsor great park, My wife keeps telling me about the Deer she sees on her way past in the mornings.

:lol: well if I get really bored....

Tracked down some info, might be worth asking them, but it looks like they do photography days during the autumn and winter.

Where is it Pete? I'd be interested in togging there myself :) I'm pretty sure it's not in Shinfield 'cause I live there! :lol:

Thanks for the link :)

Indeed, could be a good TP meet in the offing there :thumbs: At a quick look it seems that they do a "Photographic Day" on Sunday 12 October

Also in Berkshire, there are some really pretty villages and old churches if you like that sort of thing. For example:
* Waltham St Lawrence (old church, 15C pub)
* Shottesbrooke (deer park, manor house, 13C church)
* Cookham
* Hurley

And all very close too me, in fact 10mins drive away for the first couple.

Worth a look :)

Sorry i meant Beenham..

I'm also planning at least one day inside trying to get some interesting still life type shots. Wife plays the violin so that's one thing I'm dying to try and get a really good shot of.

You could always pop down to White Waltham to get some shots of the intresting aircraft there, Tiger Moths, Pitts Specials and a big collection of Cubs.
Lovely stuff, although im a bit biased as its almost like my second home:lol:
Dean:)

No double n in Donington! Sorry, pet hate ;)

If you're not at the track for the whole day, bradgate park is only 25mins away - the deer aren't usually too difficult to find if you want to give that a shot. Or 5 mins away there's the airport (footpath in Castle Donington runs alongside the runway too, although there is a mesh fence) if you want to try your hand at planes. Calke Abbey and Foremark Resevoir are also within 20minutes drive from Donington Park.

Ooops I don't suppose you'd believe me if I said the double n was a dodgy sticky key? :whistling:

Maharajahas Well and cottage at Stoke Row is a pretty little spot for a couple of pics.

Interesting, I assume it's you're flickr page I found with pics of it :)
