Im after some ideas and inspiration on places to go and photograph.

I have a rail pass to get me to work but it allows me travel anywhere on the Greater Manchester Network so was wondering if anyone knows any nice places to visit to photograph?

I've attached the map of the rail network if that helps

From greenfield it is a short walk to uppermill or Dove stone reservoir.
You can walk round the reservoir in about an hour, and ther are some higher walks using that as a starting point.
plenty of opportunities for photographs. Then back into greenfield or along the canal into uppermill for a snack or a meal.
would make a nice day out. Its where I live.

Thats just what im looking for! Thanks for that

Dont think i will get there this weekend weathers not looking good but you never know!

Are the ridges over looking the reservior easy access? Is it worth going up later in the day in the hope for good sunset?

It is tough enough walking along the tops. need to be reasonably fit. (too much for me now) But lots do it and there is always the chance of a good shot.

Yep would agree it could be fun up there. All depends on what you want. Rural - try Middlewood out from Stockport, or Hadfield for more hills, though again you might need to catch a bus or walk onto the moors if thats your thing.

Thanks! Bottoms reservoir looks interesting with that fountain. Guessing it is done by gravity and if its been raining which it has recently.

Train to Disley then walk into Lyme Park for the deer and many other photo opportunities.
It's free if you walk in!
Theres a good ridge walk up to Bowstones too.
AND you can take in the canal and Middlewood Way

+1 for Lyme park.

Train up to nearest station to rivington and public transport from there.

Or a trek out to the quays andround the canals near castle field for some urban shots.

If the steam trains still running from bury station you could have a trip up to the east lands railway.

Thanks for the thoughts will add them on the list!

Ended up going out to Dove Stone today and got some hopefully brill shots at the top of one of the hills over looking the lake. Haven't got any kind of graduated filets yet so i shot bracketed and will layer them up. We also found a great gorge with plenty of waterfall sections so I've just posted a quick one now on this thread below.
