Interesting no plates

Surprisingly, given the number of vehicles I've owned aover the years and the "OD" suffix being a local one, I've never had an "NOD" plate.

I'll say nothing of people putting photos of huge expensive lenses on their avatars then. :D
Excellent, excellent comeback  .

I was given a personalised number plate as a gift. Not a major fan of them but I couldn't say no as they don't really come cheap.

Does that make me a toss pot?

I don't know what the cost is now, I haven't looked into it in years, but when I got mine (about 12 years or so ago) it was £250 including the assigning fee for a plate that hadn't previously been registered.

There was an £80/yr "admin charge" for each year you had it that it wasn't assigned to a vehicle, but once it was on a vehicle, you only had to pay if you wanted to re-assign it to another.

I ended up moving to the US not too long after getting it, so I ended up never assigning it to a vehicle and just sold it on before I left.

I'll give you £0.08 for it (inc. the transfer fee) :D

no deal noel!

On what? he's been dead for nearly 3 years :lol:QUOTE]

He had it on a Rolls or his Cadillac - could be regularly seen outside his Embassy Club in Harpurhey in Manchester.
One of the hardest/least desirable places in Manchester and it never got a scratch on it !!!

Any guesses for one seen in my parts - FOG 6Y !!!

Somebody has mentioned the Reg No PEN 1S or PEN I5. About 4 years ago I followed a bright yellow Smart car on the M25, that was sign written with numberplatereg dot com or a similar company. The number plate was one of the above.
I had read about the plate, but never expected to see it.

Mick.

I saw C007 DBS on an Aston Martin once. The flash git! lol

i visited a stone company (with work) in the early 90's called narey art stone in halifax and the guy who owned the place had '1 NAS' on his white transit. i remember he said to me... 'can't remember if plate were £10 grand an' van were £11 grand... or t'other way round'....
saw the plate a few years later on Prince Naseem's yellow lambo... and i bet he didn't give 10 or 11 grand for it!

a few others I've come across. On our estate there is a porsche with T600GLE which appears (with use of screw heads) I GOOGLE

And a decorator near my parents in newcastle had T11 RPS on a transit van which appeared as TURPS

Spotted a bright green Lambo in London with a plate that looked like it spelt W0OSH.
Which of the commedians has J1 MMY? Was it Tarbuck?

Im sure Iread somewhere that a famous snooker player had a reg similar to J1MMY.......

Tarbuck has COM 1C

I have a beaten up old Tata four door pickup... X6 4ERO, personally, I read it as hero - 'cos I am :D Most everybody else reads it as aero - full of bubbles :(

I've seen a few around: GT08 MAS was seen on a Maserati being driven around by Felipe Massa at Silverstone. 8 USH on a Bentley at Silverstone; ironically parked next to one which had WAR in its plate.

There's a mini that scampers around Kidlington and I'm cursing that I cannot remember its exact plate but it does have something like HU4E which always makes me smile (HUGE).

Hmm, could be Mr White I guess.

Just remembered, my wife rented me a Ferrari for the day for my 30th which had the reg H4 DTA which I thought was quite appropriate :D

The most memorable i've seen have been L1NUX (on a Lexus???) and MU51CDJ on a smart car, of all things, on the M5 and M6 respectively.

I own a personal plate - which apparently makes me a toss pot. Yeah, probably...

Folk just stick on plates that are not legal and switch them at MoT time.

Most police can not be bothered to stop any cars with such plates unless the ANPR cameras can not read them, but I am informed all altered plates, even those with mis-spaced digits& letters are now being picked up by overhead cameras and the registered owners being sent an automatic fine of £60.

From a reliable source;)

On a musical note (see what I did there :D) someone round here owns D1SCO...

He does indeed, he lives around the corner from where I work.

I believe Paul Daniels owns MAG 1C.

Paul Daniels sued a certain dent removal outfit for using a mocked up plate in their advertising.

The UK importers of the Dodge Viper used to have WOW II0T on their press cars (WOW HOT) apparently it was bought cheap on a beat up old VW and the ex-owner was none to pleased when he saw it on a Viper.

Ferrari in the back has reg : RIOT X :)

Its amazing at the amount of re posts in such a "short" thread :D

Remembered another couple, there is or was a butcher's van over Wishaw/Carluke way (iirc) with the plate M1NCE and a car in Paisley with POT80S

i saw one on a van at an indian restaurant - MANG0 CHUTNEY (the O in mango is a zero)

You couldn't put that on a Bedford Rascal, the plate would be wider than the car! ;)

I saw a Bentley in Nottingham the other day with S600 TER with a carefully placed screw making SC00TER. No idea who was in it, I couldn't keep up in a transit van...

i thought the queens cars dont have plates? or is that just an old wives tail?
I know the Queen Mother used to drive around in a Rolls (I think) with the place MUM1.
