Intel® CoreTM2 Quad Processor Q8300 (2.50 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB, 4 MB Cache)

Looks like quite a good deal to me that does !

i could build a better spec for cheaper

With Windows 7 its a pretty good deal for one ready to plug in. I have built literally hundreds of computers over the years but for most people not able to do so it is brilliant. Not sure how you could build one for much less though.

But

£80 - OEM Windows 7
£110 - Q8300
£75 - 2x2Gb DDR2
£50 - 1Tb HD
£15 - DVDR

Thats £330 ! then case, psu, keyboard, graphics card, mouse, card reader etc

I'm not surprised Chaz mentioned it.

I can get...

£65 OEM Windows 7 Home Premium
£94 Q8300
£60 2x2gb DDR2
£40 1TB
£15 DVDRW
£8 Keyboard & Mouse

Total £282

Its not a bad price but its not the best either. I can imagine the motherboard is made out of plasticine lol

Plus in my experience they will be thrown together with 150w psu's stickered up to be 500w , bad spec hd's (5400rpm etc)

For £349 you could have a better overall spec built with good parts.

For instance is a quad core really essential , especially pairing it with ddr2? and a rubbish motherboard?

But without a case, motherboard, psu and graphics card it's not going to be much use! (and this one includes 2 quick release HD brackets, card reader and Works as well)

Add them on even at those prices (which seem a little low even with my trade contacts) and you are going to be back up to the £349 hence it being pretty good.

Seems like a decent price for what it is but the i5 is so good in terms of price-performance right now that personally I wouldn't consider buying anything else.

I'd rather self build but thats a bloody good price for what it is

for doing it properly quad core is dead look to the i7's for high and i5's for mid level performance to get a few years future proofing

I know what you mean, I would prefer to build one myself even if it was the same price. Just can't justify building an i7 for the amount of use it would get with having switched to MacOS. My Quad Xeon Mac Pro is still faster than I need for the photography and photoshop and the old dual core 3.6GHz pentium 4 still does all the PC stuff in fact 80% of my time is on the macbook pro :)

Don't forget the 3 year warranty that's thrown in with this. It seems good value to me.

its a seriously terrible graphics card and if past Medion stuff is anything to go by it will be stacked with the cheapest rubbish parts you can find.

And medion warranties are the pants, its posted and returned at the buyers cost unless you upgrade at extra cost

thats the trouble with "deals" like this, even looking on the Medion site at this machine it doesnt give you any more detail than the ALDI site does regarding extra info on specs, that video card is one step up from onboard cards and an OEM version can be had for as little as £22

thr HD will be 5400rpm and the onboard sound will be of old telephone line quality, if they cant be bothered to put in a dedicated soundcard which can be bought retail for as little as £15 that should tell you something

They make no mention of the motherboard and its upgradeability, WHY

Forget the warranty, its the absolute most basis, you can upgrade but they dont twell you how much until you get it home and open the box

No point debating as your unlikely to get one been to two Aldi stores and the have not got any SOLD OUT

URL of supplier? Some of those component prices are rather low (processor, hard drive).

I get trade and I don't get these prices. They are most likely ex vat, offers, bulk or out of date!

Card maybe depending what you wanna do but on parts ive heard very different info

Again from a different source from above, the warranties are incredibly good

Ive owned Medion and they really are poor, support is totally non existent, machines are so slow if you threw it out of a window you could run downstairs and catch it before it hit the ground, motherboards are woeful and seriously not upgradeable, warranty is basis and in the box you get options to upgrade at stupid prices

Buy one, you will be sorry

Just to let you know, Ive bought the above Mentioned Medion. Obviously i cant yet comment on the warranty but running cs3&4 the computer isnt slow infact its blisteringly fast.
