Hi All

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, did do a quick search but nothing obvious came up.

Does anyone have separate insurance for their camera.

I've just booked a holiday and intend taking my kit with me. However, the travel insurance only covers up to £300.00.

What does everyone else do?

Thanks

Andrea

Hi Andrea

I have my kit insured seperatly as do a lot of trips abroad for my main hobby Aircraft i am sure its as an addon to my contents insurance i will confirm this later on when Alison gets home from work

I phoned Direct Line who we have our home insurance with before we went to Amsterdam - the home insurance covers all of our kit as long as no individual item is more than £1500 - any item over £1500 would have to be noted on the policy as a special item.

They treat bodies and lenses as individual items so all our kit is covered worldwide, which is handy.

Sorry, its contents insurance not home insurance (we bundle them together). Accidental damage too.

I had this problem when i went to HK for christmas as travel insurance would only cover £300 for photo equipment. I called up my house insurance (contents) and they said it be an extra £15 for my camera gear and lens :woot:

Thanks all.

I'll check with contents insurance, hopefully I won't have to pay out extra.

Just wasn't sure as I have separate insurance for my violins.

Thanks

Andrea
