Yes
I've been given a quote of just over £80 for 3 years insurance on my Canon 400d (and its kit lens). This would cover accidental damage as well, have no excess payment and no limits to the number of claims within those 3 years. All repairs would have to be complete within 21 days or else I can ask for a replacement. I rarely use the kit lens anymore and over the next 3 years can see myself using it less and less as my kit bag gets bigger, so basically the insurance would be on the body - so would cover damage to the senser, lcd screen etc.

Is this a good price? (if I had to claim on the house insurance, I'd have to pay the first £50 anyway).
Do you insure your bodies and lenses; whats a good price for basic kit.

Yeah pretty good price, who's it with?

I pay £180 per year to insure all my kit with Photoguard(40D + Grip, 17-40L and 70-200 f/2.8L).

its the standard policy with currys (where I bought the camera) although they sent a different priced thing in the post to me as I've had the camera nearly a year now, so I went into store (and they quoted a different 2nd price). This is the price of the insurance if I bought the camera today, which I can then link to my camera. Obviously the price of the camera has dropped a bit in the intervening year, so the policy is cheaper. I just wasnt sure if it was a good deal or not.

Wouldn't touch it myself ..... not unless it included Loss or Theft ..... after all, who decides what is accidental damage and what is not .... pretty sure it's not gonna be you! ;)

all insurance sounds great - - - till you make a claim!

Yeah if there's no loss or theft coverage then just pay for insurance through an insurance company which offers photographic insurance. For just a 400D it will be very cheap (only a few quid a month).

This sounds a bit like breakdown insurance. If the camera breaks you get it replaced or repaired. If it gets stolen ...Nothing.

You may be better off looking at adding the camera to your household insurance

www.aaduki.com myself, so far they have instilled alot of confidence, came close to claiming with the 100-400 incident and they were fantastic, advice and support etc came to add my 70-200 to the policy and read out the serial number and the voice at the end of the phone said "that don't sound right" I had read him the wrong number and he knew I had - people that know their stuff, I like that !

It doesnt cover loss and theft, I could claim those under my home insurance. Basically the policy would cover ANY damage, accidental or otherwise, but I would need the camera to claim.

The aaduki site looks good if I cover all my kit, but its £52/year (but that would include lenses too), or else I'm looking at £80 for 3 years (i.e. £27/year) for the body only.
