Insurance Claims

Does anyone here have experience with claiming their insurance for damage to your equipment? How difficult is it to actually get the insurance companies to cough up the repair fees?

I suspect it depends a lot on your insurance company & the disclaimers surrounding your cover, many will try to weasel out on technicalities so read up your T&Cs before making a claim.

I think that should read as "read up your T&Cs before buying the policy."

For what I wanted, infocusinsurance.co.uk seemed to offer best cover (if not the lowest excesses, but made up for it elsewhere).

I've only had experience with one (Aaduki) and it was no problem at all. Form filled in -camera shop on the phone that day asking where to send replacement kit to.

I think different insurance companies will handle claims in different ways, but my experience is that repairs are easier and quicker to settle than loss / theft. That is based on 2 repairs and 3 losses.
