Have just been told that my contents insurers(Tescos) underwriter will not cover my photographic equipment and with an estimated £20,000.00 worth of kit uninsured i need to act fast.

TIA

I use photoguard....I think several round here do...

The other one I know about is EandL - always gets leaflets in my mags about them, but no idea how good or bad they are

However, as always, with any policy, read the small print. Both AFAIK do instant online cover.

I had a bit of a struggle, but my broker eventually managed to get full cover even in an unattended vehicle as long as itwas in a locked boot. One of my cars is an estate type, so after some argy bargy they agreed to cover it as long as it was hidden in the rear, ie with the nosey folk cover over the top so you couldn't see the gear.

I use photoguard.
Just be careful to read their small print. They have no intention of paying for my £2500 worth of stolen camera equipment. There was no sign of a break in therefore it wasnt stolen (in their eyes)
So, I'm £2500 down, plus the cost of the worthless insurance.

My advice is to spend the money on a viscous guard dog instead

I have business cover to £10,000, and all the kit is covered unattended until 9pm in the motor, also includes public liability cover (as MUST!).

Must admit have wondered recently if the household insurance covers all my photographic equipment.

I wonder if there'd be any benefit of trying to arrange a group based policy? The insurer may feel less inclined to find "an out" given the amount of business he might lose by getting bad press.

Anybody out there in the business?

After reading these posts got me thinking I don't own a lot of gear but I will be reading small print on my home insurance As I get more gear safe storage in the home is the problem :suspect:
