I think a few people from here have signed up to the course recently with the offers that have been going on. I couldn't find any other threads discussing this course so I thought I'd create one.

Here's the link to the course: LINKY

I signed up a few months back. I've done the first 3 modules (pretty basic stuff) but i'm not planning to start the proper stuff until my youngest starts school in September. I want to be able to give it my attention, rather than have to wait until the kids are all in bed in the evenings .

I rattled of the first module on Saturday but didn't have time to look at the next one. Is there a time limit on how long you get to do the course?

Nope, you can take as long as you like :)

I just rushed through to the composition one, as it's more from that onwards that I need help with. I already understand how my camera works and what affects DOF etc, but not had a chance to look at the module yet.

Signed up on the Amazon deal, first impression: I was not blown away by the site - feels a little clunky. Did the first 4 modules last week and getting toward the more meaty stuff in the next few modules, content seems relevant and useful so far.

Feel like it's hard work reading all those slides though, would be easier if at least some if it was video tutorial. Only working 2 days this week so hoping to get some more done soon.

Seem to be flying through the units, done 4 and going to do the 5th now. It's all been theory up to yet, although they do give a few practice suggestions but nothing compulsory that you need to submit.

I joined when they first started it and I'm about halfway through but having issues finding the time to complete it. Everything else seems more interesting than reading slides.

Yeah the slides are a bit small. Would really prefer a PDF download or something similar.

Any thoughts from those doing the course (as its been a couple of months since this thread was started) as just got the £49 offering thought I might sign up just to put some structure around my photography more than anything else?

I have been waiting to see if anyone else would reply first.

To be brutally honest I was a bit let down by the course. I think you could learn just as much, if not more by posting your shots on here for critique.

There are about 13 or 14 modules with a practical at the end of each, but these aren't compulsory. They do ask you a lot to go on their forums but I never really got round to doing it. I'm just waiting to submit 3 photos for the final part, and I think that's the first and last time I'll have had any contact with the tutor.

£49, yeah maybe worth a punt, but I would have been really gutted if I'd had paid the full amount.

Have you signed up yet? I might even be tempted to say 'get £49 of reccomended books' and work through those.

Is it just me being a cynic? Did anyone else get more from the course?

Cheers, I did wonder if that might be the feedback on this one, anything discounted to this level always makes me wonder on the 'true' value of the product so I guess what you have said makes me think it is probably a £49 course in real terms and whether its actually even worth that is probably the bigger question?

Really appreciate the honesty though as I think I will keep looking for something that gets more positive overall feedback

Yeah, I think £49 is still pushing it.

I do need to get mine finished though. I parted with the cash so might as well try and get a certificate for it.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that it could be better.

I also signed up using an offer form Amozon and paid £49 and to be honest I think even at that its overpriced. I have got to unit 6 I think (been a month since I've had chance to do anything) and feel the site could be much better and as has been said it would be better as a PDF download rather then the slide show style it currently is. The option to pront bits off would also be good.

If I had of paid full price I think I would be very unhappy and wishing I had chosen a different course

I think each unit should have a submission before you could progress

Has anyone passed the submission stage yet?

Personally I would say no it's not not even at £50 and no way at full price. I'm on the last unit now and to be honest I have only reinforced what I have learnt from books and on here.

Thank you :)

I do want to do some courses though, i want to learn properly.

I'd look to see if your local college do a course as a start point

I'm about to attempt the first assignment 'Compostion' need to take 36 photos of the same subject in different postions I'm struggling to get my head how to do it at the momment
