Hi guys, do you know where I can get instant film and an instant film holder for my 4x5 in the UK?

Also, where is the best place to get sheet film in general?

Thanks in advance (i'm from New Zealand)

Paul

I think your only sensible choice for film is Fuji FP stuff...

I think fp100c45 is discontinued. Probably better picking up a polaroid 405 or equivalent that shoots the smaller fp100c.

howcome your username is RaglanSurf? are you connected to NZ?

I lived in Raglan for a while and the user name sort of stuck.

For sheet film you can try agphotographic.

AFAIK AG Photographic don't stock instant 4x5 film, unless you've heard differently?

If you want the nominally 5x4 pack stuff you need either a Polaroid 505 (not the 545 linked above) or a fuji pa-45 holder. The fuji stuff is getting harder to find and is starting to be out of date only now when you do find it, so you may be better finding a converted 405 holder and using that instead

Paul.. I may be able to help, I rescued a 4x5 Polaroid back and a stack of expired b&w Polaroid instant at the start of summer. I need to check with someone tonight before I can sell them, and I've already had someone ask for first refusal on the film packs.

G'day Al! How are ya?

I'd be interested for sure. I am getting married next week and I want to take about 20 instant portraits of guests before I head back to NZ and start messing with 4x5 sheet film proper.
I'll be shooting with a 4x5 Toyo View

Hi Paul! Are you back in the UK at the moment?

The back is a "Polaroid 545 Land Film Holder", I can see no specific model number. Looks ok but the roller may need a wipe. The film packs are expired Polapan 52 (exp. 2003, ISO400, 3 boxes of 20 sheets each). I'm afraid this back may be a doorstep once the expired film is used up - and I can't absolutely vouch for the conditions the film has been stored in, although a cool cupboard in a laboratory closet would be a safe bet for the last 15 years.

Long term, a modified 4x5 back that accepts 100-series pack film might be a better bet for you.

The Polaroid 405 or Fuji PA-145 are for the smaller pack films - FP100C and FP100C Silk.

Don't believe they do, but the OP also asked where to get sheet film.

Indeed he did, please accept my profound apologies and this should teach me that I really shouldn't turn on the computer before I've had my early morning cup of tea.

So are you willing to sell this? It might give some interesting results, it will be better than what can get my hands on before Tuesday 11th. Yeah, the film holder will probably become a door stop, or be added to my camera museum ....

Yup.. checked and this can be sold (we rescued quite a bit of stuff from the same skip, some was promised elsewhere but this can go - proceeds go to a night out for the rescue group). No idea at all on how to value this lot. I have found the lid of the box for the back which confirms it as a #545.
  • Polaroid #545, 4x5 Land Film Holder
  • Polopan 52 x20 sheets, exp Jun 3003 (clean box, unopened)
  • Polopan 52 x20 sheets, exp Jun 3003 (watermarked box, unopened)
  • Polopan 52 x20 sheets, exp Jun 3003 (no box, unopened foil packet)
  • About a dozen or so apparently unopened Polaroid Film Coater cartridges

How about that for service? 3 days from asking a question on the forum to producing a print!
Thanks Al :)
