Installing PSE 9 over 8?

Forgive my utter lack of techiness, but I've never happened to upgrade the version of Elements I was using on the same computer. My upgrades have always come at the time I purchased a new computer.

Now I'm looking at upgrading to 9 from version 8...and keeping my computer (an iMac).

When I install PSE 9, will it over-write version 8 or will I end up with both on my computer? Is there anything I should watch out for, or special preparations to be made?

Will I lose plug-ins like ImageTrends that I use to correct fisheye distortion?

I don't use elements but I'm pretty sure you'll end up with the two versions 8 and 9 on your computer.

I uninstalled PSE 7 before installing PSE 9 as I was concerned there's be a conflict or cock up........all went fine.

I am sure you are correct. I put 8 on on top of 7 and ended up with both.

Best take the old one out and do a clean install.

You might be able to back up your catalog first though, save you having to retag all your photos after the new install. One would hope/assume that the restore on Elements 9 will read in the backed up catalog from 8.

Im currently transferring 7 onto a new PC and using this to move all my pics across. (fingers crossed)

defo uninstall old version first. it will then search for previous catalogues after the install of v9
