I'm going through a period when I'm doing plenty of field work and editing but haven't written anything in ages, haven't even uploaded any new work to social places... I know it helps to draw some new buyers to the site. Just how do you motivate yourself to write SEO gibberish?

I don't write, however I have followed some of your work (and Steve's, The Scotland book) and have to say that even if you think you are writing for no purpose, someone, somewhere is enjoying your work.

My understanding of SEO is that fresh, and relevant, content is the most important part. So even if it's just a couple of photos and saying that you've been doing "stunning landscape photography at XXX" then you'll be on to a winner.
There's no need for long posts, and if you do then think about the target market of your posts: are you expecting it to be read by other photographers? Then include the technical details. If you're writing for potential clients who might commission you, then add a bit of detail about the work process from commissioning through to delivering.

Also, depending on what blogging software you use, you can normally write posts and get them to automatically become live a future date. That way you could spend a couple of days when you have time, writing blog posts about the work you've been doing over the last few months, and then get the software to publish one a fortnight for the next few months.

By the way, did you used to post on TP with a different username? I've got a vague memory of previously seeing that amazingly stunning Bristol Balloon Festival photo on your site.

My own method (which pre-dates computers, which have made it so easy to correct) is simply to get something down on paper, then I go back and correct/add/delete as necessary, repeated as often as necessary.
Then, when I'm totally happy with it I leave it for a day or so, and when I re-visit it I see all the faults that I thought weren't there...

The important thing is to make a start.
I don't think that "SEO gibberish" even matters, just add keywords and tags as appropriate. If what you write is worth reading, it will get read, and shared.
