Inspiration for camera play on a rainy evening

Hi,

Whilst attempting my 365, I've found it increasingly more and more difficult to find photos whilst I am at home on a rainy day/evening.

Generally, I love night photography and that's what I tend to steer towards when I can get out of the house.

So, I guess I'm looking for suggestions of what I can experiment with/learn at home when going out isn't possible.

Is there a reason going outside isn't possible when it's raining? A lot of places look more interesting in the rain, it also affords you the opportunity to take shots that don't exist when it's dry.

I get out plenty, including when its stormy and wet. That's not really desirable or possible every night, though.

Buy a big gold umbrella. Rain is cool

Try some water drop pictures, hours of fun when it's rubbish outside

Can't you take your camera out in the daytime ?

Umbrella, marquee or even just a shop front cover. You simply need to re-think.

Smoke is a great way of passing an evening, I had a great time doing it!

Although never attempted, I imagine water droplet photography is the same.

I did try that once,to try a capture all major events that were happening over the world in real time

If you cant get out there is plenty you can experiment with in the home. Macro photography is a create place to start. Photograph the obvious in new and interesting ways. Smoke is a very easy setup and requires very little, except patience. Water drops are fun, but annoying Pick a single subject and photograph it in a multitude of different ways - I did this with an egg

Exactly! I just cannot understand this "it's raining I can't go out and do photography" attitude. I love the possibilities rain brings.

What about photographing the sinking of a rubber/plastic duck in a bath tub.

Exactly! I just cannot understand this "it's raining I can't go out and do photography" attitude. I love the possibilities rain brings.

Like I've said, I have done - lots. Most of that was during storms etc.

I'm not afraid of getting wet, but some nights I require a break from it (or I have the little one).

high speed photography, popping balloons, smashing cups lol, triggers aren't that much to buy.
