Hi all,

Is anyone on here a full blown insomniac, if you are it must be hell. I woke up at 4 this morning and haven't been able to get back to sleep and it weren't very nice. My heart goes out to anyone that lives like that.

Don't know why I said it but .... erm yeah

David

I was one a coupl years back. Only getting atleast 30 mins sleep on average a night.

Not nice, but there you go!

i think i have insomnia by choice, i find the early hours to be the most relaxing of the day, say between 4am and 7am. :cuckoo:

If you have insomnia try lying right at the edge of the bed ........... in no time at all you will drop off!

I suffered with terrible sleep problems before easter. It was mostly self induced through very irregular sleeping habits but it resulted in me waking up at 3am and being ready for the day ahead and then exhausted by 5 or 6 pm. Not quite insomnia but it was horrible, especially as a student where the evenings are the most exciting!

I have been plagued with this all my life. I refuse to take sleeping pills; I prefer to turn to drink to get me to sleep but that causes other problems. It doesn't just affect me, it affects my family when I just can't face the next day through complete exhaustion. It is an affliction that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, it really does get to you. It usually lasts about four days in succession every month like clockwork. I don't think I will ever find the answer, not in my lifetime anyway.

I have suffered sleep probs like crazy.

veracocha.......have you been tested for an underactive tyroid?

No quack has even mentioned it to me (thanks for the heads up) and I have been under their guidance for years. The last appointment almost met approval when I told her the drink works better than the pills. So many of my family are in the same boat, it might be genetic in my case. Whatever happens I refuse to let it beat me mentally, physically I lose every time.

Yes, leaving the jokes aside, it is bad. Only ever had it when there was a worry at the back of my mind, but I worked with a guy who had it for years and he was really exhausted.

Probably better to get up and make a cuppa rather than lie in a state of restlessness.

There was a prog on't TV and this guy reckons that if you get some dried hops that they use in brewing beer , and mix 50/50 with lavender and make a small pillow of it YOU WILL SLEEP :tumbleweed::bat:

But be sure to put the mixture in a double cotton case ,as the Hops mark everything yellow .

Seemingly the hop pickers where always falling asleep on the job from something from the hops.

A few bevies or some dried hops. The latter I think

PS. Several people in the prog where insomniacs and it really helped most of them.

I hate to say it but I sleep like a baby(no I don't wake up every two hours for a feed)

But I know someone who had disturbed sleep, and he always had things spinning around his head worrying him and preventing him getting back to sleep.

So he kept a pen and note book beside the bed so he could write anything down that was worrying him, then he managed to get off to sleep safe in the knowledge that he'd remember about it in the morning and could deal with it then.
