insomaniacs Roll Call

Usually awake till about 5 am then the painkillers kick in.. sometimes though can be awake until 10 or 11 am

Where is everybody ?

I'm just picking which films I'll watch tonight.

I'm here, just wondering what to watch for the next couple of hours

well you all seem to be gone now hope you sleep well

I don't currently have insomnia, just a 6 week old baby!

I have suffered in the past due to work stress. I'd end up lying awake thinking "even if I get to sleep now that's a max of 4 hours and I've abcd...xyz to do tomorrow" and just make myself worse!

Does just getting in from a night out count as being an insomniac?

Woke at 4 but actually managed to fall back to sleep until 6:30. Had a cuppa and prepared brekkie. Now hear thuds from upstairs which means it's time to finish the brekkie and take it up to SWMBO! ;)

I'm off to bed after work, I usually sleep pretty well during the day. Far better than I've ever slept at night. :)
However, I've four nights off, my sleep pattern will be all over the place, finally settling on day four...just before I start nights again.

Been low on sleep since I was about 18. Current run is 3 hours a night for the last 6 months (new baby and lots of work). Not necessarily insomnia (although it is hard to turn off), I think you just get used to a certain amount of down time.

Finished the last film...now onto another stress filled project. Mind you, I have known some of the people I work with to not go home for 3 days when they have a particular effect to finish for a client....they are definitely a bit 'funky' at that point

I'm on night shifts all weekend, so I dont really have anywhere else to be

A few insomniacs I know sleep better through the day...

I'm one of those, but never allowed to do so! 5 females make sure of that. 3 human, 2 feline

Going through a nasty bout of it for the past few weeks. Tried going to bed at various times, tried drugs, various remedies, tried watching movies, listening to music, reading .... nothing works. Part of the problem is after I do get to sleep, my body stiffens up, all my muscles start acting up - especially my legs. Been like that a long time, got worse after I had back surgery. My mind too, is always racing. can't seem to slow it down once it starts.

Maybe I should try yoga!

An even worse bout of it tonight :/

Went to bed, nice and tired after watching a film, at around 1am. 5:54 now and not slept a wink, had to come down for some pain meds.

:( At least I've had 3 and 1/2 hrs. Got up just in time to watch 10mins of a promising sunrise ascend into the thickening clouds!
To top it off, the son's came in probably an hour or so ago from work, so I'll be walking on eggshells. It's a tiny flat and he'll be needing to sleep, of course.

Still up and alert, not had so much as a nap. Our 5yr old was down at 7:30, when I had notions of plonking on the sofa with a blanket and pillow ... never happened. Reckon I'll just crash at some point soon

I'm officially in the club. Toddler = sleeping, husband = snoring, baby = sleeping (for now)

Me = wide awake. I feel like I've read the whole Internet on my iPhone.

12 year old in bed feeling ill.

Baby asleep, 4 year old and 2 year old asleep - Netflix fired up.

The rest of my clan are all in bed asleep

How do you rate Netflix Phil?

It's OK

I've got SKY everything (movies plus sports etc) on the big TV in the living room but I just bought a medium sized smart TV to have in the family room.

I got my eldest Daughter a netflix account for her iPad which means I get it on the smart TV

I thought I'd give it a go with a view to dropping 'movies' off my SKY account.

Netflix is good and as well as films you gets lots of TV series etc. There are loads of movies but it doesn't have stuff as recent as Sky movies.

If you don't have SKY movies I'd say Netflix is good value and a good product at £5 a month for 3 devices at once but - now SKY Go has so much more than Sky movies it's hard to drop it from the subscription.

Lovely and sleepy and relaxed at 23:00. Awake at 02:40. Oh well.
At least I now know about the state of various Asian economies and a lost city in Columbia!
But more pressing is whether my baccy will last til the corner shop opens, or will I have walk a mile to the 24hr garage? :)

Been to bed twice, just kicking the **** out of the bed :(

Just got back from a Peter Gabriel gig in Manchester, unwinding with a glass of Malt and listening to the owls in the fields, it beats the continuous emergency services sirens in Manchester.
