Is what my computer said when I turned in on this morning.

So I took out the hard drive with Win 7 installed and working beautifully and put back in the previous drive with Vista on it.... same message :(

In a way that was good news in that it won't be 2 hard drives failed and my install all lost. So with the computer in pieces and thinking about new a motherboard I notice the CF card sticking out of the card reader. Remove the CF card and restart... it boots to Vista. Put the win7 drive back in and it boots as normal.

Must remember to disable boot from USB in the bios next time I restart. Hopefully that was all it was but as I'd ripped things out and put them back it could have been a connection somewhere. Anyway it was a timely reminder so I used the disc image backup tool in win7 to make an image on another drive just in case.

can't beat a happy ending (I hope) :)

Agreed :)

Things just work!

Installed it on my media PC too now. No messing with codecs so far - everything just plays including divx and mov files.

Making some things free add ons is a bit of a nuisance - took me a while to realise there is no email program and I had to go find one. That aside it has all been positive so far.

I am guessing this is the Windows 7 equivalent message you used to get in XP if a floppy disk was inserted into the A drive. Just change your boot sequence so that your hard drive is first and the CD drive next in case you forget to take it out again.

Hard drive is first in the boot sequence. It was a bios message. Guess USB must override the normal boot sequence. I'll have a poke round in the bios tomorrow to see what the USB options are. Feel safer now I have a disc image to fall back to... not that I expect to see the message again. Normally the card goes straight back in the camera for formatting after getting the images off.

random thing - i had a PC at work try and boot from a USB mouse.

yes... you heard me correctly...
