I guess this is aimed at all the Macro shooters out there who not only post some great Macro images of insects, they also identify them.

My knowledge of insects would mean posting shots entitled, Fly, Spider, Bee or Wasp  after that I'm struggling

So can anyone recommend a good book or even website that would aid me to identify insects that I hope to capture as Macro images.

Cheers

Spiders are a special case (arachnids). Accessible books (on insects or anything else) tend to be less than comprehensive so it helps to browse them in a bookshop to test the flavour of them, and work towards having at least two or three.

Don't know this book myself but it seems well liked -

http://www.nhbs.com/collins_complete_guide_to_british_insects_tefno_160890.html

The problem is the number of insect and spider species in the UK (somewhere about 20,000 and a few hundred, respectively) so any guide is necessarily a bit limited.

This is a link to insect websites -

One I know of that has a lot of knowledgeable members is -

If you get stuck on an ID post a photo on WAB and you will almost certainly get an answer.

Have a look on the shelves of your local library to see which books they have that are useful.
