About to order a battery pack from them, but just wondered if anyone has done the same and got shafted with import tax?

Is there any way of calculating (reasonably accurately) how much HMRC would add on top?

Just remember you also get charged tax on the shipping cost as well, then VAT is added and you'll have to pay the shipping company at this end to process it through customs on your behalf...

I used to allow 23% on top of the total cost (item + shipping) to cover this but with the increase in VAT perhaps 27-30%(?) should cover all costs. So worth comparing the total with the The Flash Centre in the UK or Photo Specialist based in the Netherlands.

I actually factored in 30% and it still comes out cheaper that TFC...although, in any case, they are out of stock! I'll take a look at Photospecialist beforehand though - thanks for the link.

Actually they are out of stock too! Although they come out roughly the same price as buying it direct and adding 30%.
