Hi all
First time on here so please be gentle.
Need a set of inks for printer but a set of epson will cost around £450 pounds Yes thats right its not a miss print (10 cartridges at around £45 each ).
My question is, will third party inks be just as good and will they last as long as these have nearly five years without any problems ??? sorry if it sounds a stupid question but the cost will be a lot more if the cheaper one are rubbish

Probably not to both questions. The only time I used a cheap replacement cartridge, the colour was off from day 1 and faded fast. I could have recalibrated the printer to correct the colour problem on day 1 but it would still have faded.

Yes, genuine inks are expensive but they work properly and cause fewer nozzle clogging incidents than cheapos are likely to (especially [if internet reports are to be believed] in Epson printers). You've invested a significant amount of cash in your printer and it deserves decent food.

FWIW, some people swear by the CIS systems they use - I don't have any personal experience of them so can't comment.

I've just switched to Lyson refillable ink cartridges with Lyson inks from http://www.specialistinks.com/

You'll need a custom profile for them as they are quite different from the Epson original inks but Specialist Inks offer that service free when you by from them.

I can't tell the difference between them and the Epson Inks so I'm very happy especially since they're 1/3rd the cost. :)

Many thanks Nod suppose thinking about it your right.
Colin had lysin inks with previous printer but as i didn't use regularly the nossles kept blocking up plus the mess i got in refilling the bottles i looked like i just left a children's birthday party i was covered in ink.
So many thanks the both of you it seems i better get the proper inks.
Regards Barry

you'll probably be able to get 3rd party carts for the larger format Epson you have from permajet, lyson or fotospeed

Barry, you can still get nozzle blockages with genuine inks if a printer's left unused for a while. I try to run a few prints through at least on a weekly basis, if not more often and always do a test print before any large prints.
