Infra Red illumination (flash or continuous)

I've been playing around with a modified X-E1 shooting some portraits. They are kind of cool but I'm suffering badly with panda eyes.

Has anybody got experience of using a flash (needs to work on a Fuji) or continuous illuminator to lift shadows in IR pics?
 
Ooh interesting. Are you sure the "Panda eyes" effect is an illumination issue, or is it that that part of your subjects complexion does not reflect IR radiation as efficiently?
NB. Please bear in mind that I am just thinking aloud.
 
That's a good point. I guess it could be either but it's very similar to the effect I'd see when shooting a similar scene in visible light where I needed fill flash. Just kind of....more ;)
