I understand that the footpath down to Lulworth Cove / Durdle Door was subject to a landslide earlier this year.

Does anyone know if it's accessible now or not?

Don't want to rock up if I can't get down there.

Had a little look on Mr G but can't se anything definitive.

Many thanks :)

I've got a friend who lives in west lulworth and he said he's been down to the cove and yes you can get down but it's a bit awkward. Not sure if that helps or not tbh.

I've no idea but the Bervie Braes are open again.

What has that to do with the original request, you cretinous buffoon.

A question was asked and I answered it. As a bonus I added an interesting wee fact. Every day is a school day.

Your abuse has been reported.

It is only abusive if it is incorrect, the statement is fact, not abuse.

You divvie.

Negative. Your fate is out of your hands.

Did you bother going there in the end Ruth. Might do a fishing trip down there this week.

Gimme a chance Rich, I only posted this today.....I'm planning my little trip

And still if anyone knows about the access.....

Thanks Scott. Appreciate it. But one person's idea of "a bit awkward" can be another's idea of impassable :)

More than one opinion can't hurt

I can find out definitively tomorrow - I'm speaking to the SWCP team about something else so (assuming I remember  ) I'll ask them

Thank you Pete.

A bit further West, there were a few minor deviations on the SWCP and one major one but hat was in E Devon (Pete's patch) rather than Dorset. Have a good trip Ruth.

where's that then ? - we own most of the SWCP in East Devon and I can't think of any major issues , we've lost a few fences and that sort of thing, but its all minor field diversions. Fortunately the dry summer has meant a lot fewer cliff falls this year - which is good because last year was a b****r

The only major problem I can think of was at Burton Bradstock - which is West Dorset (and fortunately not my problem although I have my colleague's back if his team need our help)

I think the cliff fall was between Lulworth and Durdle Door so the only issue *might* be if you wanted to walk from Lulworth across to Durdle Door on the coast path. You can park in Lulworth so getting to the cove not an issue. You can also park at the top of a caravan site near durdle door and walk down from the road if you want to get to Durdle. So even if the coast path is closed you should still be able to get to places.
And once you're in the area youve got the rest of the purbecks at your feet.

This article says the path has been moved further inland and not closed.

I hope you like crowds coming to lulworth in school hols... ;)

Thanks Keith. I don't mind the peeps. I'm in the area for a couple of days and just think it might be a shame to pass up the opportunity to visit when I'm so close. But I'll see at the time. Again, thanks.

"Somewhere around Sidmouth" she thinks but she'll check with her walking buddy who's less blonde!!! All I can tell you for certain is that it was between Seaton and Budleigh Salterton.

Pennington point-(basically the cliffs imediately east of sidmouth beach) major problem with chunks falling off and has led to EDDC closing the path onto the beach.) not our land anymore as our land holding there has completely erroded.

however we moved the coast path in land slighly further east to run diagonally accross salcombe hill field to alma lane , 4 years ago, so it remains unnaffected by the recent cliff falls

Sounds about right - walking buddy said "just before Sidmouth" so would have been just East of S. Bear in mind that Mrs N has managed to get from Tiverton to home via the A30 towards Okehampton... I just made sure she knew to keep the sea on her wedding ring finger side!
