Got a friend who has just been offered [ and he snapped it up;) ] a reasonable sounding starting kit

In it are a D80 , and a DX AF-S 18-135 Camera is said to have 3360 clicks

There are other things with it Manfrotto Tripod, Nikon Remote, spare battery and charger , a bag and a B+W cpl.

He's just been told that the camera takes an SDHC Card and possibly no greater than 4GB.

Can anyone give us more info about the card needed please . I would send him a spare one of mine - but I'm using 8GB SDXC in my K30.

I used 8gb sdhc ones in my one without any issues.

That's a relief - he has some 8GB I ~think~

Does anyone have a link for checking re possible firmware updates ?

Not sure if there is a manual with the D80 - hopefully there is , but it would be nice for him to be prepared . He should be OK with it . When we have been out together I've sometimes put my hand down to get my Pentax out of the bag, to find it's in his hands and in use :)

I have that same kit and have used 16GB cards without any issues

Just get him to use it first without messing around with the firmware.

Oh he intends to do that - but I was a tad concerned because of the Card problems - previous owner saying that the largest card it would take was a 4GB - I don't have any spare ones of those - mine are all much bigger and I had to update my K-30 as soon as I got it.

I reckon I have at least 1 unused 8GB SDXC and would happily give him that - but will the D80 be able to use it ?. There isn't a card coming with it as far as we know.

Hmm - maybe I'd better go upstairs and look at my cards again :)

In increasing old age - the memory suffers

I use 8 gb cards in my D80, no problems.

Nice bit of kit, light and easy to use.

On the Nikon UK site you or he will find any firmware updates (and instructions on how to download and install them) and a copy of the manual.
