Hi,

If anyone is thinking of buying a new tripod I urge you to consider the Induro range.

After looking at various different tripods I narrowed down to -

Manfrotto CXPRO4
Feisol CT-3441S
Induro CLT204 Stealth

I know many will shout Gitzo, but these were simply out of budget.

The manfrotto was quickly ruled out as it was the heaviest of the 3, had the lowest pay load, and the longest folded. It was also in my eyes poor value for money as things like carry bag are not included. I also do not like the way the centre column can be folded horizontally...Some say convenient, I say a little gimmicky and an obvious weak point.

I nearly went for the Feisol, and had it not been the case that Feisol UK have ceased trading this review may have been different. I do like their kit and is good value. I have never heard bad things and supply to the Military but leaves me a little jittery when a company selling from a domestic address disappears off the face of the earth.

So I bit the bullet and bought an Induro CLT204S from Dale Photographic. First off thanks to the guys at Dale....really well packed and arrived in 2 days.

The first impressions unpacking screamed a quality item. It is really well constructed using top quality materials. The carbon is top notch and has a very nice magnesium spider which screams quality. The twist lock legs are really smooth and progressive only requiring just over half a turn to fully tighten. There a few other nice little touches like foam grips and bubble level on the spider. It comes standard with a really nice carry case, a reduced length centre column and a tool kit/foot spikes. What I was particular impressed with is once registered Induro offer a 10 year warranty!! Try getting that on a Manfrotto!
It also offers a pretty impressive spec. Most of my photography is in the big outdoors usually hiking and carrying my gear long distances. If the tripod was too big or too heavy I simply wouldn't use it. The induro is a mere 1.6kgs, which is enough to offer decent stability but light enough that I will happily carry it. It also has a hook for attaching additional weight if required. Folded it is only 54cm, and has a massive payload of 16kg's! - I realise these are often optimistic figures, but the most I will put on this is my D810 and 200-500 which is around 3.5kg's combined so no worries there! I am also 6'2 and even with the centre column down it is a decent height. One other thing I noticed is that other 4 section tripods have really thin spindly lower sections, but the induro's is much sturdier.

As I mentioned earlier I realise that Gitzo may get a slight edge in certain areas, but this was only £288 delivered. The quality is definitely there and with that 10 year warranty I am sure this will see me well. It is certainly worth consideration if you are in the market for some new legs!

GITZO, seriously though there has been some great deals on them recently as they clear the older models of the Systematic range
This is pretty good http://www.harrisoncameras.co.uk/pd...-Systematic-Long-Tripod-Legs_GIT-GT2542LS.htm

I looked at Induro amongst others when I wanted a new tripod last winter, they were ok, but in the end narrowed it down to FLM and Gitzo. Fortunate enough to see most of the main manufacturers at a trade show to make comparisons.
Bought the Gitzo in the end, £75 trade in for any old tripod with a raised length of over one metre swung it for me.

Induros are good, and as sk66 says, good value. Induro is the other trading name for Benro with only cosmetic differences.

But they're not Gitzo quality (or price) and there are still some amazing bargains at WEX and other retailers on outgoing models (same as the new versions).
