I have loads of experience shooting motorsport at Circuits
But
I have been asked to take photos of an indoor karting event, rules include no flash,
Any tips
I feel this could be rather different...
Shouldn't be a problem really... to make carts look good you need to really wind down the shutter speed anyway.
I'd start with something like ISO800, shutter priority, 1/60 and see if that gives you a firing solution. Failing that, start knocking up the ISO a bit, but on a D90, probably 1600 is as far as you want to go! Next step is to drop the shutter even further... Hope you have nice fast glass... like a 70-200 VR.
thanks for the comments
havent got 70-200VR but I have a ..
50mm 1.8
180mm 2.8
suppose the 300 F4 will be too long
Lighting appears to be a mix of fluorescents and spots plus skylights but it will probably be after dark
If you can get per is soon to shoot from a marshals post then I've shot fine with a 50mm f1.4 from trackside.
Just checked and I was getting 1/80 or 1/60 at f1.4 iOS 1600. It's generally that dark.
