Black fur is not easy to light but you've got it spot on. The eyes really pop. You can see he is ready to play

I've struggled with taking shots of him ever since he was a kitten! If you like taking photos of your pets, don't get a black cat!

That is just sooooo cute and absolutely bang on theme.

Once I've got over the awww factor, it's actually an amazing shot too. Good lighting, good DoF and the focus on the eyes is absolutely perfect.
A bit of a shame that the handle is covering part of his right eye, but getting a cat to pose exactly where you want it is asking the impossible really
