Basically I've built up my first pc (not my first actual pc. Just the first one ive built) from scratch today but im still waiting on my windows 7 disc. Is it Ok to boot up the newly built pc without inatalling windows straight away. I just want to see if everything works or if I have created some sort of bomb lol.

It will POST before it does anything, Power On Self Test, if this goes through then everything works. It can't get past here without an OS or installation disc

Cheers. so if everything is ok and it's completed that test can I easily shut it back down and wait till I get my OS disc?
 
I get the new OS disc tomorrow and I don't have any other working machine for tonight. I normally would but the mrs has taken my laptop to her mums:rolleyes:
 
If it goes beep and goes insert boot disk or unable to find boot disk, then all is well :)
 
Thanks I'll give it a shot. The build went well for my first try so hoping the rest of it does. I don't want to blow it up after the amount I spent:rolleyes:
 
All fine and dandy...I think. Powered it up and a big novatech logo popped up for about 2seconds then it beeped and asked for the boot media, which I'm guessing is the OS disc.

Yeh I was going to do that because I knew I was going to get the OS disc after I built up the pc, but me being me I forgot lol. The same windows 7 code has lasted me many years on other computers but this time I thought I'd just go ahead and buy it again to be on the safe side ;)
