Time has come for me to buy a new pair of outdoor trousers for my wildlife photography. I havent saw any walking trousers that suit the needs. Need to be strong, waterproof, articulated knee area, possibly padded but and knee areas for sitting kneeling down. Prefer green or similar but not camo patterns. So what do you use ?

How about something from the Paramo range, however having had sneak look at the ones Carlos posted, they'd take some beating.

Before being disabled I was a carpenter by trade. For several years I was fitting wooden & laminate flooring up-to seven days a week and the only trousers which lasted were Snickers Floor Layers Trousers. http://www.snickersdirect.co.uk/sni...s-floorlayers,-snickers-trousers-p-90289.html
If you don't mind wearing these type of trousers they will give you years of wear. And they would be useful with the numerous pockets.

Craghoppers dont have anything i have in mind. Harkila are great but expensive. Looking to pay up to around £100 at most.the Stealth Gear are more my sort of thing however i have warmer trousers for sitting around in and meet my needs. I need something strong enough to last but not much insulation. Was thinking of maybe Seeland or Deerhunter etc, etc

Wildlife watching supplies do a lot of useful stuff for photographers including some nice clothing.

Ardmoor site has a big list of different sorts to give some ideas; http://www.ardmoor.co.uk/mens/clothing/trousers?sortBy=PriceFromNumeric|asc&itemsperpage=500&page=1 I considered the Sealand Calder, but wanted something a bit warmer, hence going for the Stealth Gear, which also have massive side pockets & a couple of different leg lengths.

Just ordered from Ardmor, i have ordered the Seeland Eaton trousers as they met the criteria that i was looking for. Also considered the Deerhunter Tempest as i like Deerhunter trousers having already got their Rusky trousers for sitting around in the snow and cold climates.

Good stuff, Mark.
I found Ardmoor to be very helpful & quick at despatch. (they're not a million miles from you either)

Look good trousers, but don't seem to come in a variety of leg lengths.

Only need length 31-33 inch as i will be wearing boots so they should be fine. Not expensive, waterproof, quiet and enough room to be comfortable.

Seeland is good gear, worn their jackets for years now Mark, you won`t be disappointed.

oh has a pair of seeland beater trousers that are around 6 years old and have seen 5 seasons of beating, he also has the newer keeper trousers, he reckons they're the dogs!

Have a look at Country Innovation trousers: link. I don't have any of their gear, but I was looking or alternatives to my usual Paramo travel trousers and saw someone saying that birders seem to plump for Paramo or Country Innovation trousers. They have a range of prices according to their specification.

Specifically, they say their Falcon Trousers (£95) are "windproof, waterproof and breathable - perfect for hillwalking, birdwatching or general outdoor use" and have articulated knees.

I got a pair of Stealth-Gear last year. I can highly recommend them...
They do look to be very capable, but how much do they weigh, please? I can't find that info on any of the several sites I have found selling or recommending them. Thanks...

Just weighed mine, with a belt, they're just over a Kilo, so on there own probably about 750g

Thanks for that, Carl. They do look like a fairly heavyweight item and it's useful to be able to compare them to others that are available, eg the 500 g (I presume that includes the webbing belt that comes with them) of the Country Innovation Falcon Trousers I mentioned above.

Some interesting looking suggestions.

Paramo would certainly be warm enough (if their jackets are anything to go by) and waterproof in normal wear but I'm not too sure if they would be waterproof when kneeling as Paramo gear works in a different way to others.

Dave

I was also intrigued by Extreme Trousers. Are they more trousery than ordinary ones; more than the normal number of legs perhaps?
