I need a new bag, it has to be a shoulder bag and it has to be able to fit the following kit...

D80 + Grip + 17-55mm 2.8 attached
50mm 1.8
SB-600
Various batteries and filters.

I've been looking at both the Crumpler Messenger Boy 7500 and the Crumpler Muffin Top 7500, but i have my doubts if i'll be able to fit camera and lens in the bag 'lens first'.

If anyone has any thoughts on these two bags or any others, it would be appreciated.

Got the Muffin Top and it fits a 1Ds with a 24-105mm and a fifty and a flash would be OK in mine :)

The other one I have and I'd recommend anytime is the Lowepro, should be able to get one that fits almost anything you want. Had mine 3 years now and it's home to my mobile lighting kit.

I've got the muffin top 7500, and I think you'd be able to fit in your kit. In mine I have a 70-200 f/2.8, 450D + Tamron 17-50, 100mm macro, and a flash.

Here's a photo of my old one (I now have a black one!):

With the grip, I'd suggest moving the left hand divider to the right to make room (probably to about halfway along), then the flash and 50mm will happily fit in. There's space in the front pocket for a few filters, batteries etc, and with the kit that you want to put in it, you should have some room inside as well for a bit more storage. Hope this helps!

Edit: And on a side note, the bag in the above picture now belongs to AliB! It's a small world...... :D

Thanks for this Chris, the photo helps a lot - like you said, moving the divider would create room for the grip.

Is the bag deep enough for the camera with the 17-55mm 2.8 brute attached? I've had a measure, and it's about 19cm in length...

I've just measured, 19cm puts the lcd screen 1cm above the black label saying 'muffin top 7500'. I put my 100mm macro on (makes it 18cm long/deep), and added an extra 1cm of spacing (rear lens cap), and the bag closes fairly easily, so I'd think you'd be fine! Anything longer though and I think you'll be struggling, it won't fit a body + 70-200 f/2.8 (although the lens on it's own fits fine)

Thanks for doing that Chris, I think you've sold me on the Muffin Top... Now to hunt down the best price.

Aldi bags seem quite strong.
