I know very little about video and welcome any comments. I'm interested in taking video footage of a range of oncoming road vehicles with a final follow-through pan as they pass by purely for showing directly on a website, or via YouTube. Nothing else. I have a Canon system, so would be keen to buy something like the 650D.

I understand you have to focus manually. So, as turning the separate focus and zoom ring's at the same time on my 70-200 to keep tight framing is out, I guess the idea is to use something like a standard or wide angle lens and concentrate solely on focusing. Or have I missed something?

I've looked at pure video camera's in the £300 price bracket and they seem a good option for what I have in mind. A key additional feature will be good sound to accompany the video clips. If you know what a BSA Gold Star, a Porshe 911, and a Foden two-stroke sounds like, you will understand my needs. Thanks.

Sounds you like you would be better off with a camcorder tbh. Any reason why you want to use a SLR for the video?

yeah tbh sounds like you would be better putting the cash towards a dedicated camcorder.

While I do love video from DSLRs consider that to really get the focus spot on you'll need one of those adapter screens to help with it and they are around £200 + you will need an external mic so that is £100+.
