In camera wifi or wifi memory card?

I'm looking to buy a Sony RX100 (Budget £250-275) and there is currently Sony cash back offer on so hopefully I'll purchase one fairly soon. However I would like to have wifi connectivity which if I buy the mark1 would mean using a wifi memory card , the mark2 has built in wifi and looking on ebay I may be able to buy a second hand Mk2 for similar price to the new Mk1.


Can anyone give me an opinion on Wifi memory cards compared to the RX100 Mk2 wifi capabilities .

The wifi cards were unreliable! I wouldn't bother
 
i have wifi on my Canon 760D and i find it very hard to use for some reason.
 
I find the wi-fi on my 80D a bit of a faff but the wi-fi on my Panasonic TZ80 works very well.
 
I have a Toshiba Flash air which works okay for jpeg, could not get the phone or tablet to see RAW from my Fuji XF1. Not an issue with the card but the apps available.

I have wifi on the D750 but very rarely use it.
 
My D5500 has wifi which is great. Love that i can share pics to my phone on the move. Useful for backing up a few crucial snaps.

However the nikon WMU app is shocking. Constantly crashes and ive tried to uninstall several times to no avail.
 
Thank you for the replies guys, looks like I should forget about wifi and just get the Mk1 and sort the photos out on the pc at home. We're off to NYC next month and I hoped the wifi would have been a way of getting some photos onto Social media for family to see while we are away but I'll just wait until we're home I think.

Are the Eye-Fi cards any good these days (do they even exist?)? I had an 8gb one when they came out and it was useless.
 
I have a 32GB Toshiba one. It works reasonably well, but JPEGs only when transferring to my iPhone/iPad.

I recently also got a "Lexar MicroSD to Lightning Card Reader", which is not overly expensive (< £25) which would do a similar job, assuming you had micro sd cards and an Apple device though.
