Decided this weekend would be the time I sorted out my CD collection once and for all and get them all archived into iTunes alongside all my existing digital music files.

Today I've managed to upload 1150 songs today but I'm only about 10 per cent of the way through my music collection. It's possibly one of the most boring jobs I've ever undertaken. Looks like it's time to buy a new back-up hard drive too - 25GB of files and increasing as I type. Was never like this when I was taping stuff off the sunday afternoon chart countdown on Radio 1!!!

Plus, I've realised i've got some right crappy stuff in my collection; the greatest hits of Cameo! Only thought they did one good song and as for Cradle Of Filth... well, that's one I think may just be filed under 'bin' :)

You'll find that you'll probably only listen to maybe a 3rd of your music collection when you look at your iTunes stats in a few months time... which is good because then you can delete some music to make room for something else.

I`ve done some heavy deletion over the last couple of months, going through albums and removing tracks that I just skip etc.

It could be worse.... I really need to transfer all my vinyl to the computer at some point - at least with CD you don't have to rip things at real time....

i did about 5 albums from vinyl, never again, not only does the coping take ages, then youve got to cut the tracks up, remove the crackles, hisses and pops and various other artifacts.

as i dont have anything on vinyl thats not available on cd i think in future ill just buy it from amazon marketplace!
