Important OSX update

I have no idea about any of that stuff but if you suggest that's an important one I'll do that today !

What user does ntpd run as on OSX?

This vulnerability affects any system running ntp, which can include linux, BSD variants etc.
 
Thanks Neil. Mine didn't auto update either, had to do it through the App store.
 
Umm... Storm in a teacup?

This is only going to affect NTP servers. If you run behind a firewall/router you are unlikely to be affected (that doesn't mean you shouldn't patch the software, just that you won't be open to the attack). Or am I missing something....
 
I have a few programs that run in "virtual" windows - if you have the same, check before you upgrade your OX as last time I did it cost me £50 to update Parallel, (the app that runs the virtual windows), as that would not run in the new OX
 
Security update just auto dropped while I was having lunch.

I think when they do auto updates they drip feed them out to avoid slash dotting their own servers but you can take it sooner manually if you want.
 
Mine updated itself this morning..
