I've been offered a great deal on a 5D Mk II and a 24-70mm from Singapore (about £1800 all in) from a friend of mine who's working out there. Wondered if anyone could provide me an educated guess on how much I'm likely to pay in import VAT and duties?

17.5% on the total and an additional 6% on the part covering the lens....don't forget, no international warranty on bodies.

My guess would be roughly £350, made up of about £30 duty on the lens + £325 VAT. I suspect you will also have to pay a handling fee to the courier. Hope this helps.
