Imap or Pop3

With the recent fiasco on Sky migrating from Google to Yahoo I'm still without my everyday Sky email address, I've decided enough is enough.
I have my own domain name with unlimited email boxes, Why I haven't used it before I don't know. Just shows how brainwashed a lot of us are (or maybe just me).

A couple of daft questions before setting a email box up for myself. With Thunderbird using Imap settings I check my email on my laptop, later going onto my desktop pc and checking emails on that, will I still be able to see the same emails I seen earlier on the laptop?

I assume after a while I would have to go into my mailbox settings and delete some old imap emails manually, not checked cpanel yet if this can be done automatically yet.

Using IMAP will mean that any devices using that protocol will all receive your emails and reading them on one device won't make any difference to the other devices, they will still show as unread.

Umm.. Using IMAP, the status of the mailbox shows, not of the device. If you have read the message on one device, it appears read on all of them.

I'd strongly recommend IMAP. Keeping everything on the server means any of your connected devices automatically get the up-to-date information, which can be great if you're using many devices like a laptop and a tablet or phone.

My mistake, you are indeed correct.

IN Cpanel, once you have set up your Email, you can get the configuration settings for both POP3 & Imap for each E-mail account -see below for the configuration options for one of my E-mail accounts

I'd also suggest using Spamassassin (accessed via Cpanel) to filter spam.
