having hunted around for a handy portable way to pull images off SD card when out and about or on hols without having to lug my big home laptop ive just managed to pick up a rather nifty 10.1" samsung NB30 Plus netbook.
2gb Ram 1.66 Atom CPU all important SD card slot, Windoze 7 starter and a rather nice sized 250Gb HDD.

no now my question is.. i wont be editing on there if i can help it. but do want to be able to view the RAW files ( and maybe if really at a push do some minor adjustments.

so wondered if anyone else used similar spec machine and what software they used on it ( Is lightroom a viable option ) or should i hunt around for some freeware or even switch over and install Linux on it and try gimp?

PhotoShop Elements?

im wondering if Picasa may be suitable.. have to consider it will be raw files ( wish i could get ACR as a standalone).

also i might just wipe Windows 7 entirely from it and install Linux which i know has major issues with adobe so apart from Gimp which i dont like have to look see what else is out there.

Have to consider the resolution too , its 1,024 x 600 widescreen so need to find some software thats going to work in that mode as well.

Have you tried Faststone?
