Having had to find software (freeware) which handles CR2 raw file previewing better than Vistas viewer I tried ExifPro which I thought was great, but wasn't keen enough to pay the cash to get rid of the nag screen as it wasn't exactly what I was looking for.
What I found when I looked further was Fastone image viewer and all I can say is it is brilliant.
Perhaps people already know or have tried this although I've never seen it mentioned so I thought it was worth a quick post for anyone looking to get a decent viewer.
I use the arrow keys to skip to the next image but if you zoom in to check quality you have to zoom out again before skipping or it simply pans the image.. However I just figured out that if you click and hold the zoom it zooms to 100% and then when you let go it returns to fit to screen!
Also all information panes are hidden until you move your mouse over the appropriate edge of the screen which is really neat.
I haven't used it that much so can't really give it a full blown review but in the short time i've been using it, it really has proved to be a very capable, neat viewer.
Hopefully this helps anyone struggling to find a suitable program or putting up with nag screens.

I like the program so much.. I might buy the company
PS I have no affiliation to the software
