Image transfer problem

I`ve just bought an extenal hard drive to store my images in but on transfer they come up as cr2 rather than a thumbnail i know that`s a raw file but when it comes to retreiving an image i`ve no idea which one is which , can some point me in the right direction please? Harvey

If your system shows thumbnails normally then it understands what the files are. Sounds like you just need to change the view setting when looking at the folder in windows explorer (drop down list icon top right on windows 7, maybe view menu on older o/s)

You didn't say which OS you're running, so I assume it's Windows. Installing the MS Camera Codec Pack should fix things, I believe.

Just to get this straight... You get thumbnails for CR2 pictures on the internal hard drive but not if they are on a plug in drive?
