Morning all,

I am having a few problems with regards to printing my pictures big.

Basically I have taken some pictures that I have edited slightly. I would now like to print them out big (30x20 or 40x30).

I have uploaded the images to the truprint website (I'm not sure this is the best place to use but they have always provided me with decent prints in the past). When I choose poster size or canvas size it appears with a resolution warning.

Basically I'd like to know if there is anyway that I can make the resolution higher when uploading/editing images??

I have taken the photos on the best setting on a Canon 450d, they have not been taken in raw though.

All help is much appreciated as I'm tearing my hair out - and I didn't have much before I started!!

what is the size of the images in pixels?
If they are looking for 300dpi then that make 30ins to be 9000 pix BUT when you have big prints you can get away with a lot lower.
If you have PS you can upsize it but let know what size you have first

Looking here for the standard pic size (out of the camera) you're looking at 140ppi for the 30" print and just over 100ppi for the 40" print.

Thanks for all the help. I'll check when I get home tonight.

Just to confirm I have PS CS2. Where would I find the image pixel size??

Sorry I'm still relatively new to image editing!!

Cheers

Bring up the image, then click on the image tab at the top followed by image size in the drop down menu. This will show the size of the image as both a measurement and in terms of pixels.

If you're working with a JPG file then just look at it through your windows explorer, single click on it and it should show you in the left panel. Or alternativly right click and choose properties.

^^^^^ sorry for double post, too slow at typing

Once you get resolution sorted then look at either (aldi photo prints) £7.79 for 30x20 or if you want to ensure best service then togsprint do 30x20 cheaper than truprint.

Lots of reviews of both of these printers on the TP forums
