Hello.

I currently use Photobucket for the very few photos I do take/gaming screenshots. I know Flickr is mean't to be a lot better but why? I know with a free account your limited to 200 photos but I did read that if you make a @bt email address then you can get the pro account for free, is this true?

-Thanks

if youre a BT internet customer (i.e. you have their ADSL), you can (or at least could) get a free pro flickr account.

Ahh. Im not with BT and I won't be going with them either :( Any other image hosting sites better than photobucket? Surpose I could just use my deviantart account more

Flickr whilst not perfect is IMHO the best of the bunch. I found photobucket 'clunky' in comparison. Likewise when I had a brief play with imageshack.

Also, some say that Flickr can add a bit of sharpening to the uploaded images but I haven't seen that myself.

If you find that your photos exceed the limit on flickr, a Pro account is pennies so that'd be my logical next step

Apparently the original is not sharpened but smaller sizes are

^ Thanks Neil - didn't know that.

Forgot about this BT thing - anyone know if it still applies? I haven't renewed my Flickr Pro a/c and am thinking of switching to BT anyway...

As far as I know when you sign up for BT Internet, you get BTYahoo of which Flickr is a part.

I've got a pro account, but then I've had a BT account for years, they don't seem to make much of this on the BT Internet site.
You also get access to the 'Digital Vault' from where, apparently, it is possible to share photos - I don't think you get a lot of storage (for free) though.
I've never used this.

I've been using the Imageshack free version for a few years now and had around 950 shots uploaded
Recently had an e-mail about the free version being capped to 500 and any excess being deleted beginning of the month (1st March)
Did have a spring clean and got it down to just over 800,which surprisingly are still there...and the message reads that the older photos will expire beginning of next month
Can I expect these to disappear,or is it a marketing ploy to subscribe ?
Haven't uploaded any since btw,so not sure if I can or not
TIA

Thanks John. I have my own site through Zenfolio, so I mainly just use Flickr for camera club stuff etc, but if I could get free Flickr Pro through BT it would be another added bonus in going for BT.

Yeah I will man up and buy the flickr pro I think. £15 for one year :) Im guessing my photos get deleted if I don't pay for the second year when the first years runs out.

Here's the official line from the Flickr help section:

What happens if my Pro Account expires?

If your Pro account expires, don't panic! None of your photos or videos have been deleted!

This means instead of enjoying the super-duper capacity of your Pro account, you're now subject to the limits of a free account. If you upgrade again, all of your photos will be waiting for you.

Any of your sets that disappeared will magically reappear when you renew or upgrade.

Cool,
Will take a look at a pro account, after reading this. Cheers
