My Canon DSLR has started naming the image files it saves as "_MG_????" instead of "IMG_????" (the question marks represent a number).

Can someone tell me if there is anything wrong in changing the initial "I" to an underscore?

TIA

Brian

You've set the colour space to AdobeRGB as opposed to sRGB, this is what Canon does to identify between the two. Unless you use Adobe calibrated monitors and printers it's not a great idea to use AdobeRGB anyway.

I think it may mean that one is JPG and the other is RAW - but won't swear to that!

.

Thanks for replying but it is not so. Jpeg files are named *.jpg and raw files are *.cr2. That's how they are differentiated I don't know where you got that info from!

Hmm... That's interesting. I didn't know that. I'll check. Thanks a lot. :-)

_IM is AdobeRGB as as fitzer said, it confused me too when I first got a Canon.

Excellent: You solved the problem for me. I switched from Adobe RGB to sRGB and got my "I" back!!

Thanks!!! :D
