having bought a new pc i cant reinstall the latest version of lightroom because originally i paid a one off price for the software what adobe now charge is too much for me i dont do enough to warant paying all that on a monthly basis.
is there something else that would suit my needs for less money i want something were i can adjust images mainly from my fishing just a bit of cropping and a little adjustment of the sliders.
anyone got any recomendations please.

when i log in to my account it wont let me use my licence key to make the trial version i have downloaded a full version i think it says no longer supported or something like that.

Amazon sells a 1 year bundles for the various subscription plans - normally they work out the same cost as 12 months subs, but a few times a year these get discounted, for example the LR Classic + PS + 20 Gb plan (£10/month) can be had for £70-£80 for 12 months. You need to make sure you pick up another discounted 12 month bundle before the first runs out, but you don't loose anything by adding another bundle on early as it just extends by 12 months (So if you added a bundle when you had 2 months remaining, you woudl then have 14 months remaining).
While this is still a subscription, it is cheaper, so might be of use to you.

All I can say IIRC with my old perpetual license version I don't remember having open an Adobe account. The license entry was part of the installation process.

That was V6 and v5 before it.

FWIW I am building my new PC and intend to install v6.14 on it....... mentioned this on another forum and the replies indicate that it can be a mixed bag including phoning Adobe ???

Groupon do a years deal for Photoshop and lightroom for £84 I couldn't copy the link here, but if you Google it, you will get it.

Don't think you will get 6.14 reinstalled or at least not without help from Adobe.
Managed on my new PC, but that was a few years ago and they were quite reluctant back then.
Still working, but I have the disc and for v3 which it was an upgrade from. You need both licence keys to get it activated.

Are you sure it's a trial version of LR6, surprised that is still around.
Why not get Photoshop Elements, one off purchase and don't even need the latest version for what you want to do.

Thanks for the insight, I can but try to install it and see what happens.

FWIW I started with v 2 and upgraded progressively.........but I can only find my v5 & 6 licenses.

IIRC when I installed v6 it asked for my v5 license number and again IIRC when I installed v5 I then uninstalled v4 (and previous ones?)

It will be suck it & see....I use v6 for a few specific final stages in my editing and one is using Pixel Genius output (print) sharpening plugin. Ultimately I could do without PS but then need to redefine my output workflow for print.

Always worth a try, reckon you might get v6.0 which is better than nothing
I'm resigned to weighing in for the subscription version next time I have to get a new PC.

As a former Adobe Subscription Model denier, it is now a MUCH more comprehensive piece of software than v6.14 is. IMO it is now well worth paying the monthly fee, especially if you can get one of the deals mentioned above.

Have thought about it, but my workflow of PureRaw 2 then LR 6.14 works well for me.

100% agree, LR 6.14 is almost six years old, the software has moved on immensely since then. However, if all the OP is after a bit of cropping and basic adjustments, then Photoshop Elements, Affinity Photo or even something free like GIMP would all do the job without a subscription. I think the sub is great value for what you get but I do use all of it and open LR pretty much every day in some way or another, even if its just a quick edit of an old image on my phone.

If you just want to do simple colour, brightness, sharpening and cropping, I suggest Canon DPP.
All you need is a canon camera serial number and it's all free.

I use it for adjusting scanned images although it only works with TIF, JPG or Canon raw.

I installed Lightroom 6.14 on a Windows 11 Pro PC a few month ago.
I originally had Lightroom 4 and upgraded through 5 to 6.

What I did was
1) Run Lightroom_6_LS11.exe (original)
This will ask for Adobe user information and Lightroom 4 and Lightroom 6 serial numbers.
It will install Lightroom 6.0.
2) Run AdobePatchInstaller.exe from within Lightroom_6_14setup.zip
This will update to Lightroom 6.14

Obviously if you don't have original serials etc could be difficult...

There is a version of Lightroom_6_LS11.exe available to download from
Don't know if is simpler than the way I did
Adobe will only let you download until end of this year

I use Lightroom infrequently with a camera I bought used in 2018 and can go months without opening it so a sub is a poor choice for me, more enthusiastic users will have a different experience.

FWIW I installed 6.14 the other day on my new Windows11 PC.
Used the installer copied from the disc ages ago, entered the serial number (again from the disc) then ran the updater for 6 > 6.1 which I downloaded via a link here in the distant past.

It tried to dial into my Adobe account to register but failed - I since looked in my Adobe account and the LR6.14 licence isn't listed anywhere.

All working fine and dandy on the old PC and the new one, but much nicer on the new one.

Does this mean that it will function as a trial and stop working in 30 days?

LR 5 is the last version as far as I know that doesn't demand online activation ... so if you have a copy of that with serial no, it should be good to go ad infinitum (until it should stop working on a future new os) ...

A catalogue however is not back-transferable from v6 to v5. Adjustments are, though, through the medium of sidecar files ...

i want something were i can adjust images mainly from my fishing just a bit of cropping and a little adjustment of the sliders.
It would help if you stated what type of file you work on - is it raws, tifs, jpgs or what?

thanks for the help everyone think i might have a look at infinity it sounds a good option.

I use ACDSEE the non subscription model. Have a look at Professional 2023. For the price it’s pretty good value.

No indication so far - I've been setting up on the new PC but not using that day to day
I have loads of work stuff I'm considering not moving and keeping the new PC just for pleasure.

It wasn't a trial install - I got a CDROM version or may be DVD-ROM version back when 6.00 was the current release complete with serial.
Must still have the disc somewhere but I kept a copy of the serial in a text file and copies of the original installation .exe and the 6.14 upgrade.

Upgrades and trial upgrades might have different behaviours I never used 5.

Oddly it IS now showing up here

Picasa has a free one and even I can use most of it. Don't get much easier than that!
