iMac upgrade

can the new IMac' s be user upgraded? Looking at a 27 inch iMac with i5 and 8gig of ram but would prefer 16gig going by others comments so can I upgrade myself if I find 8 gig isn't enough. Thanks.

Yes you can upgrade the ram yourself

Yes it is possible to upgrade the 27" iMac yourself. Just looking into the same thing myself and wondering if I should go to 16GB or bite the bullet and go for 32GB. To be fair 8GB has been pretty good so far, so I'm guessing 16GB should be enough for my needs. Seems to be about £60-70 for 2x 4GB.

If you put on two 8Gb chips and leave the two 4b in place , that will give you 24gb.

That's what I did anyway. Never had any problems and I have dozens or various windows open at any given time

same here! think it cost about £100 from Crucial and took about 5 minutes

Well I ended up buying the IMac with 8 gig of ram and 3.4 i5 processor. Will get more ram in a few weeks. Also bought the 2gig time capsule as well so hoping it all works as I hope.thanks folks.
