So, got meself a shiny new iMac sitting in a box waiting to go but want to up the RAM to 4GB from the shipped 2.

Had a quick search on here and note that Crucial seem to be recommended as the best place to head price wise, but I'm struggling to find a decent installation guide to install it when it arrives.

Anyone know of a decent step by step for changing the RAM over? Last thing I want to do is fry it having waited this long to get one (some leaving present, huh?!).

Anything else worth noting RAM-wise?

TIA :)

Look on youtube as there are a few vids showing step by step. I upgraded my iMac and it was easier than scratching my head!! Yes it's that easy! :D

easy peasy, 2 screws out, pull the tabs to release the ram, insert new ram and 2 screws to close cover.

I find Crucial a bit expensive to be honest.

Have a look here at play.com. I suppose it depends on what you are prepared to accept brand wise really. I have purchassed some from play about a year ago, and has been working fine in my Imac ever since.

I upgraded the RAM in my iMac and it really is very easy. As mentioned there are vids on YouTube and a step by step guide on the Apple site. I bought my upgrade memory from Crucial and found their web site a doddle to use, you really can't go wrong :)

It's pretty easy,
the tab you have to pull can be very tight, mine was and I ended up easing the ram out with a screwdriver (very carefully bit by bit).
Other than that, no worries.
I don't have any way of earthing myself here, just kept my contact with the new ram to a minimum.

Honest, I am really impractical and I have upgraded by my Imac and MBP to 4GB, just make sure you discharge all static before doing it. A wristband is good.
