iMac not seeing new cameraa

I picked up a Nikon D810 a few weeks ago and today i tried to download the images however the iMac doesn't see the camera that is plugged into the usb drive.I don't have the SD card reader( i have the cf and XQD card readers). How do i get the camera to show when i plug it in until i get myself an SD card reader..Thanks.

My mac has a card reader on the back. I thought they all had.

Doh, just saw it, never used sd cards before as i have had cf and XQD cards for a while now..Plugged it in and its downloading..Thanks...

I had my first Mac for 5 years before I realised it had a card reader init

Still odd that you couldn't do it directly though.

Neat as it is on macs having all the sockets out of sight I find it a pain to access them so I have an external hub anyway.
