It's the apps that do the processing and generally most are available for both PC and Mac (the exception being the apple software). Personally, I hate the UI, but your mileage may vary. Macs use mid-high end PC hardware these days, so as long as you're comparing like with like, there should be very little in it from the hardware viewpoint... The way the UI works is down to personal preference.
