Hi all.

I've been trying a masking tutorial by Scott Kelby fron his channels book and have successfully followed the steps up until I reach;

"Clicking that button loads the selection around the flower (you can see the selection around the flower shape in the previous step's capture). Now that the selection is in place, press Command-~ (PC: Control-~) to see the full-color image (your selection will still be in place around your flower)."

I cannot use the keyboard shortcut as the tilde key requires "shift" to activate and I dont know/cannot find the command to reassign it in the preferences :shrug: can anybody assist please?

Thanks in advance.

it's probably referring to the key to the left of 1/ ( `, ¬ ) There's where the ~ key is on a US keyboard.

i would assume there is a menu option to do the same thing, but i dont know what software or what it is meant to do:shrug:

had a quick google, and it came up with "select composite channel" which should be at the top of the channel list:shrug:

What version of Photoshop are you using? Ctl+~ should work if you're using CS3 and you don't need to hold down the {Shift} key.

on a UK one you must use a `

Hi.

Thanks for the replies, I'm using CS4 and will give it another go when I get home later.

Can I be happy that the command refers to "select composite channel" and is changeable in the keyboard shortcut preferences, if so does anyone know where?

With CS4 I think Ctl+2 will select the composite channel. Ctl+' (apostrophe) as Terry said toggles between Alpha and composite channels.

You're absolutely correct :thumbs: I tried the tutorial again last night, got to the same stage and immediately saw the keyboard shortcuts clear as daylight in the channels panel :bang:.

Thanks for the help and BTW the technique works a treat :).
