I first saw the HP B9180 A3 printer at DigitalDepot at Stevenage when I was doing a photo course there. If I had taken my car I would have brought one home. The picture quality was out of this world.

Having ordered one I wasn't achieving the same quality as I saw at DigitalDepot. So I've been tweaking the settings and now I'm getting the quality I saw.

The first picture I printed was of Sian Lloyd the weather girl and the picture was fantastic. Sorry folks but I could run off with her any day!

I'm on cloud nine!!

How do you go about tweaking the settings then? Sorry if its really obvious but I have an HP printer and wondered if there is anything I can do to get better quality prints from it as my ones currently are unnacceptable.

congrats on your purchase though :)

Clive, I beleive getting the proper colour profiles for your printer and paper combination can make a hell of a difference, with no fiddling needed at all [ooeerrr missus]! I saw a demonstation using an epson 2400 a couple of months ago, one using default settings, one using a specific profile and the second was incredible. The first looked really good until the profiled print came out and WOW!! I dont do printing at home so cant say how good it would be, but has to be worth trying.

The B9180 is very good at detecting what type of HP photo paper has been inserted in to the tray. It has some sort of auto sense capability. Have also been experimenting with the colour management settings. Found quality of prints improves no end as long as you let printer determine colours and used adobe 1998 colour management.

Which printer do you have?

Also callibrated the printer as well.

Just pleased I've got it working the way I saw it in DigitalDepot.

Now I can say the girls on TP may have Hamster but I've got Sian Lloyd (well a picture of her anyway!)
