I have a requirement from a client to build an image which is like a panorama but the various images used to build the pano are visible and are actually separate. The examples I have seen in the past have used images which are obviously slightly different with regards to exposure. I suppose the easiest way to try and describe it is that try to imagine you have a pile of 6x4 prints taken of a scene and each print is only a small part of the scene, some of the prints are at slightly different angles and when you put them together (overlapping) it creates the vista but which is very obviously made up of individual images.

I know I am not making much sense here :D but I hope someone can understand what I mean and I realise it is not strictly a montage or mosaic effect. I'm really after a 'How to' if anyone can help.

Thanks Jim but it is not that type of effect. The one I am after is where each individual image is clearly defined and because of slight difference in exposure, contrast etc it is obvious that some pictures are sitting on top of others.

Like this?

I did one in this sort of vein recently. I printed it out at 40" x 20" for a camera club exhibition. Since the original was 150 megapixels, that was a substantial reduction in size, but it still looked pretty good...
