Ok im about to get offered a job for an engineering firm writing control software for robots and various bits of expensive automated manufacturing machinery. I dont have a clue how to do that. Having spent my life writing financial software this is a bit of a change of scenery. Anyway, in order to get a rough idea about things i was thinking of getting a cheap programmable robot arm from somewhere that i could plug into my pc. Ive seen ones for sale that you can plug a raspberry pi into and write scripts to control it but i was after something i could write code through MS Vis studio, either c# or vb.net or hell even vb6 would do. Does anyone know of something that meets that requirement?
Actually it doesn't really have to be a robot, just something I can plug into the serial port and do things with.
